Easter 2011

We headed to Wenatchee Friday night for all of the Easter festivities!  Saturday morning we met up with my mom and Jack for breakfast - Addi got a "Diva" easter basket full of fake nails, sunglasses, a fashion scarf and so much more!  Thanks Grandma Trish and Papa Jack!

Then we headed to my sister's for another breakfast, where AJ got his first haircut!  Thanks Amber!  Next we made our way to the Smallwoods Festival where Addi went on a cow ride, fed the animals with  Grandpa Greg and enjoyed the Easter egg hunt.  Afterwards we went to Aaron's parent's house to dye easter eggs and make the traditional easter bunny cake.

Sunday we all piled into church where we're proud to say Addi was one of the best behaved toddlers there!!  Grandma and Grandpa Sparks kept her entertained quite well.  Even AJ never made a peep!  From church we went back to Aaron's parent's house and much to Addi's surprise... the Easter bunny had visited while we were at church and left her lots of goodies!  She got a fishing pole, lots of clothes and lots of candy!  AJ made it out with some clothes, snacks and a book (he's too little to really enjoy it yet).  Aaron and I also got a visit from the bunny - I got money and a tiered dish and Aaron got a golf shirt.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Sparks!

Overall it was a great Easter weekend!  I don't think we sat down for very long - so many people to see and so many things to do!  Lots of pictures below!

Go Bumblebees!

That's the name of Addi's first t-ball team.  She's loving playing t-ball with all of the other kids.  We got her a glove, ball and even her own helmet.  At her first game, she hit the ball the first time off the tee and ran right to first base - we were very proud parents!  Aaron gets to hang out with her while she plays the infield - she runs after the ball quite aggressively :-).  Of course after the very first practice, when we asked her if she had fun, all she could talk about was the yummy snacks she got afterwards!  Silly kid...

Why we find them so darn cute

I thought it would be a good idea to list a few of the things our kids do that make us smile/irritated :-), starting with little AJ:
  • When he smiles, it appears he's flirting
  • He gets so angry when he's hungry, you'd think we were starving the chunky monkey
  • He talks to himself
  • He thinks his sister dancing in front of him is entertaining
  • He'll cry until you walk up to him, then he'll smile
  • He'll roll over at daycare, but not for us
  • He's ticklish like his daddy and sister
  • He puts everything in his mouth
  • He loves to put the blanket over his face and then wiggle his arms around
Now on to miss Addi:
  • She loves her "giant bebe" (and this toy baby really does look like a giant)
  • She loves to dance to R&B music
  • She has to sleep with every possible toy in bed with her
  • She only wants to brush her teeth with water, toothpaste is icky and hurts her belly
  • She wants to do everything "all by myself"
  • She loves turkey hot dogs
  • Her favorite color is yellow
  • She lays out her clothes every night for the following day
  • She loves calling people, but won't talk once they answer
Wow, I could go on and on, but for this point in time... this should do!  Hope you enjoy!

**Update - the day after I wrote this, AJ rolled over twice for us!!

Arizona getaway

Aaron and I were lucky enough to get away for a few days in sunny Scottsdale, AZ - without the kids!  We were celebrating my 30 1/2 birthday (I was pregnant on my actual b-day) and our 6 year anniversary.  My mom stayed with the kids for a few nights and then Aaron's parents satyed with them the last couple nights.

We flew out of Portland on Thursday morning and lucky for us, Janna, our good friend from college, let us crash at her place the night before.  She showed us her amazing downtown apartment and then we had a late dinner at a local bar - it was so great to catch up!

We got to Scottsdale early Thursday to some extreme heat!  They were having record breaking highs while we were there, but we loved it!

Our 3 full days consisted of a little shopping, lots of eating/drinking, tennis/walking, relaxing time by the pool, a movie and NAPS!  Yes, naps!  I can't tell you how good it felt to fall asleep in the middle of the day to a good book with no interruptions.

Overall we had a fabulous time!  We really did miss the kids and they seemed to come up in a lot of our conversations throughout the vacation :-).

Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband of 6 years - I love you honey!!
